Publication No 2

Dwellings And Buildings-
Summaries From Enumerator
Record.

In Israel there are 1,639,410 residential dwellings, of which 82,042 are
vacant.
This data is presented in Publication No. 2 in the 1995 Census of
Population and Housing Publications Series, Dwellings And Buildings-
Summaries From Enumerator Record.

This publication presents data on dwellings and buildings in Israel. The data were
collected in a systematic, predetermined process in order to create a base for
maximum coverage of the population in the Census. The enumerators recorded all
buildings and dwellings within the Enumeration Area (EA) in an Enumerator's Report
Book (ERB); the source of the information is in these records, prepared by the
enumerators at the questionnaire drop-off and pick-up stages. This record of
dwellings and buildings was, therefore, a by-product of the population coverage
process, and not an end in itself. This fact influences upon the character and
quality of the data.
