For many years, ICBS has been sensitive to the needs of researchers for micro-data access, beginning with the provision of micro-data files for research in the 1980s. With the growing demand for more detailed micro-data in research, it became essential to set parameters for data access.

While ICBS would like to meet the needs of the researchers, ICBS is keenly aware that its current legal framework impedes the establishment of a streamlined system that will make access simpler and less expensive without compromising the need to protect confidentiality and privacy.

The expected results of component B are:

  •  An overall program will be adopted in order to provide researchers with access to micro-data, including organizational and technological implementation.

  •  Procedures will be adopted to manage each interface (data providers, research institutes, researchers, thematic units).

  •  Relevant legislation will be carefully reviewed.
