תקציר
- On the eve of Rosh Hashanah 5776 (2015), the population of Israel numbers approximately 8,412,000 residents.(1)
Since Rosh Hashanah of last year,(2) the population in Israel increased by
about 158,000 persons – an increase of 1.9%, similar to previous years.
- The Jewish population numbered approximately 6,300,000 residents (74.9% of the entire population), and the Arab population – approximately 1,746,000 residents (20.7%), and approximately 366,000 persons (4.4%) were categorized as "others"(3)
- The population forecast for 2025-2030 predicts that the number of residents living in Israel will surpass 10 million.
- Over the course of the year, about 168,000 infants were born, and about 42,000 persons died.
- Approximately 32,000 persons were added to the population in the migration balance.(4) Of those, about 28,000 were new immigrants. This was an increase of about 35% over the previous year.
Most of the immigrants arrived from Ukraine (about 26%), from France (about 25%), from Russia (about 21%) and from the United States (about 9%).

number is estimated at approximately 192,000 at the end of 2014.

have passed since the previous Jewish New year.
