The 1995 Population and Housing Census is the fifth census conducted in Israel. It was conducted in a manner similar to that of the 1983 Census, except that technological improvements were introduced into this census, mainly in the field of computerization of the field work and the mapping systems, and receipt of data in an optical reading system. In
the last two subjects Israel was considered one of the world leaders. These changes contributed to an improvement in coverage of the population, lightened the load for workers in the field, and made it possible to obtain reliable, high-quality information.
